Make A Change - Emma Neill and Sarah Harper (Yr 8) Certificate of Merit
Our piece of art entitled make a change relates to our chapel theme for term 3 in multiple ways. Some major components of the artwork include the lungs, mirror and reflection.
The lungs with trees growing inside of them represent how our breath and life depends on the survival of our trees. The lungs that are polluted, and filled with buildings represent how if our ego is bad, and if we don't make a change to the way we are living, we won't be able to survive, ( because of the lack of trees in our environment to help us breathe).
The mirror and reflection are there to show / represent a girl looking in the mirror now and seeing a reflection of her future self, sad, depressed and struggling to breathe and live. The caption in / on the artwork is there to remind us that we can make a change, and that we can control our future, the length of our life and the generations to come.
Overall this artwork represents the school chapel theme for term 3 - "Earth, Environment, Ego" - as we live in this earth / world and if we let our ego and 'wants' control the way we treat our environment, neither we nor the environment will survive too much longer. We hope our piece of art will inspire others to make a change, and to help all humanity and nature to survive much longer.
